Tech Greats Haught And Carter Join SERTC Staff
Southeast Regional Training Center director Tony Robie has announced that Virginia Tech legends Jared Haught and Devin Carter have officially joined the SERTC coaching staff.
Both three-time All-Americans, multi-time ACC champions and NCAA finalists for the Hokies, Haught and Carter will work directly with athletes that train with the SERTC. They’ll also join an impressive roster of coaches that features former U.S. Olympic team members Jared Frayer and Frank Molinaro, as well as past and current National Team members Tyler Graff and Ty Walz.
“First off, I want to thank all of our 300-plus donors. Without their support, this would not be possible,” Robie said. “Our entire staff is incredibly excited to have two former Hokie greats to coach, mentor and train alongside our athletes. They both bring tremendous worth ethic, character and toughness to our program and will add a lot to the intensity in our room.”
Haught was a three-time All-American, two-time ACC champion, four-time NCAA qualifier and the 2018 national runner-up at 197 pounds for the Hokies from 2014-18. He racked up 97 career wins and played a key role in Virginia Tech’s run to its first team trophy finish in 2016.
Carter was the first Hokie to reach the NCAA finals in 2014 and finished his career with a .883 winning percentage (121-16), a program record. A native of Christiansburg, Carter won four ACC titles, was a three-time All-American and went 19-6 in his career at nationals. He’s currently pursuing his doctorate in psychology from Virginia Tech./
